GREAT DIVIDE RACE 2006

The Great Divide Race is the longest nonstop mountain biking event in the world. The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is the route that leads to it. It’s self-supported and solo. The route crosses Montana, Idaho Wyoming, Colorado, Colorado and New Mexico. It involves over 200,0.0m of climbing. Competitors bring all the equipment needed to navigate the backcountry and restock on food and other supplies in the small towns that line the route.

GDR’s purpose is to provide a common date and set rules for athletes who wish to compete in the challenge of the route or record. While anyone may attempt the GDR at any time, their effort will be recognized only if they follow the rules set on the official Great Divide Race website www.greatdividerace.com.

GDR is approximately 85% dirt, gravel or fire road with 14% paved. There is no fee to enter. The most difficult aspect of the race is getting to the start and returning home at the end.
