JAN 19SNOW SOUMMIT MOVES 300 MILES EST
The 2005 NORBA circuit will not include Snow Summit Resort, Big Bear Lake, California as the third stop. The popular Brian Head Resort, Utah will take its place at the date 2 1/2 months later. The National Downhill Series now has six events. This move cements the best-organized and complete National schedule we have ever seen. Only one conflict has been found between the NORBA schedules and the UCI schedules in the entire racing year. It’s the August 21 World Cup Downhill in Pila, Italy, and the August 19-21 Snowshoe NORBA. (Also, the August 20 Marathon World Championships at Lillehammer in Norway.
The date change is not a vacation for racers. It’s a chance to have cross-country pros competing in the World Cups. World Cup XC #2 & #3 were sandwiched between the original Snow Summit date. It is unlikely that our XC riders would contest the World Cups without it. This is due to the significant reduction in travel costs. The move will make July busy, one thing is certain. Three solid weeks of NORBA racing will follow the July 10 World Cup at Angel Fire Resort, New Mexico. This is also the first national Snow Summit event in 17 years.
