The inaugural World Championship Single Speed Cyclocross event will be held in Portland Oregon.
The Official UnOfficial World Championship for single-speed cyclocross racers is presented by the Portland Single Speed Collective (PSSC). Held in tandem with a Cyclocross Crusade race (www.crosscrusade.com), the SSCXWC is a two day event including a time trial qualifier on Saturday and the Grand Boucle on Sunday. It could be the most enjoyable time on the bike and off it, with festivities to follow each day.
PRIZES: Ahearne Cycles and Vanilla Bicycles have been signed on as major sponsors. Expect a custom built Vanilla frame (www.vanillabicycles.com) for the mens winner and custom built Ahearne frame (ahearnecycles.com) for the womens winner. A custom-made World Championship Speedo will be available, as well as tattoos.
Cross Crusade, which often draws over 700 riders, is the largest cyclocross race in the country. The courses are of the highest quality, the organization is top-notch, and Portland’s cross energy is unmatched.
